The 412/617XL is a restored and adapted version of the Minolta XL 401 & 601 models, a Super 8 camera originally produced in the mid-1970s. The Minolta XL 401/601 original features remain outstanding. Classic Super 8 capabilities like electronic single-frame shooting make it ideal for animation, and also support an internal intervalometer for time-lapse photography.

In addition to auto exposure, the camera offers full manual exposure control. The lens features a 4:1 or 6:1 zoom and an intriguing macro function for close-up work.
